Over half of participants see health improvements after trying vegan
17 September 2025: Veganuary, the global organisation encouraging people to try vegan in January and beyond, has today released the results from its six-month follow-up survey* – the only survey that polls people who received Veganuary’s tailored 31-day email support. The results show that over half (58%) of the Veganuary 2025 participants who have continued to eat a fully vegan diet for the past six months have experienced improved mood.
This boost in mood wasn’t the only positive change reported by participants. The survey revealed a range of additional benefits, with participants experiencing:
- increased energy (55%)
- better skin (48%)
- desired change in body weight (47%)
Overall, 59% of those who maintained a vegan diet reported improvements to their general health.
The survey revealed that most respondents (80%) have maintained a dramatic reduction in their animal product consumption:
- 32% are still eating a fully vegan diet
- 33% are eating at least 75% less meat and other animal products than pre-Veganuary
- 15% are eating at least 50% less meat and other animal products than pre-Veganuary
- 94% of those who are not fully vegan said they’re likely to try a vegan diet again in the future
Participants were also asked how Veganuary helped them:
- 67% feel more inspired in the kitchen
- 52% said Veganuary helped them to make more adventurous food choices
- 49% said it helped them to make more sustainable food choices
- 49% said it helped them to make healthier food choices

Commenting on these results, Veganuary’s UK Director, Dan Kidby, said:
“Year after year, it’s clear that Veganuary creates lasting change. The fact that nearly 60% of participants report improved mood and increased energy levels is remarkable. Whether people are looking to have a more positive outlook, increase their energy or simply feel better overall, these findings show that trying vegan can lead to lasting positive health changes.”
