Banana Tree

Sustainability and plant-based options have always been important to Banana Tree, which is why over 40% of their menu is vegan! That includes Native Vegan Crackers, Sweetcorn Fritter Balls, Crispy Vegan Gyoza, Vegan Katsu Curry, Tofu Pad Thai and so much more.

William Chow, their founder and executive chef, has been keen to get more people to consume less meat in order to ‘do their bit’ for the environment and for the greater good. They hope that everyone venturing into this form of eating will realise that vegan food does not have to be bland and unexciting!

Mains / Ramen and Laska

  • Ramen – Famous for a reason – a dish with deep roots in Japan, where it’s evolved from noodle soups in Yokohama’s bustling Chinese district into a beloved culinary staple. Paired with rice noodles, bean sprouts, mushrooms and a kick of radish. Garnished with chilli, and half a soft-boiled egg. Vegan (swap egg for extra Gyoza).

Mains / Comfort

  • Classic Sweet & Sour – Inspired by the centuries-old balance of flavours found in classic Chinese cuisine. This dish is crafted using real fruit juices, stir-fried with pineapples, peppers, broccoli, and onions, capturing the signature sweet and tangy taste. With tofu and steamed Jasmine rice.
  • Katsu Burger – Golden veggie fillet on a bed of spicy mayo and fresh lettuce, topped with puffed noodles and drenched in katsu sauce, all packed in a Shokupan bun. Served with salt n’ pepper chilli chips.
